Therapies - Herbal Reflexology

Why your feet are important?
Your feet are far more than a couple of clumps of flesh and bones used just for walking, and all too often are neglected apart from simple washing. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) holds that the importance of feet to human beings is comparable to the importance of root to a tree, and as the withered root brings the aura of death to a tree, coarse feet can be considered as a foreboding of aging. Their condition is seen as crucial to the health of your whole body, and thus they should receive special care.

Benefits of reflexology:
Chinese reflexology techniques emphasise the acu-points and meridians on the foot to revitalise energy and to invigorate blood circulation. It releases tension and toxins, strengthens the immune system and maintains the body's natural balance. This treatment is both relaxing and beneficial as a health promotional experience. It can cure minor ailments such as colds, and is beneficial for treating insomnia, headache and stomach discomforts. And countless people testify to the way it reduces stress.

Why our treatment is different?
In Oriental Healing Clinic, you can undergo genuine authentic Chinese reflexology treatment, first enjoying a leisurely foot bath in a wooden tub containing a mixture of hot water and various herbs, which should be prescribed by TCM physicians after differential diagnosis. Your feet will not be ready for massage until more and more hot water is poured in. Such long soaking is known to be soothing to the body generally, as well as the feet. At the mean time while you are soaking your feet, the practitioner will give a massage to your neck and shoulder or arms and hands.

For the massage itself, you are asked to relax on a reclining sofa. Essential oil or massage cream is applied, for first-time clients possibly their first experience of someone else's hands on their feet. If you are ticklish, or find the application uncomfortable, try hard to relax and help the practitioner, who will be sensitive to your reactions. The masseurs' fingers are smoothly rhythmical, gently pressing and massaging between the tendons on the back of the foot, and along the arch and sides.
